Plex media player why transcoding 720p#When I reboot the Intel NUC everything works fine for about 24 hours and all is streaming at direct play, when I don’t use the NUC for a while everything gets transcoded to 720p 2mbps. ![]() Manual servers are set at the local ip of PMS. It is clearly known that if you want to direct play 4K video on LG Smart TV with WebOS 3 using the Plex, your 4K videos must be H.264 or H.265 encoder in MP4 container, otherwise, the 4K videos will be transcoded to 1080P. Settings - Video: Original Remote and Online quality are set at “Original”Īllow direct play and allow direct stream are checked. Transcoding 4K content is a very intensive process and will require a powerful computer running Plex Media Server. I set Limit remote stream bitrate at “original/no limit” under settings - remote access I checked “Treat WAN IP As LAN Bandwidth” under settings - network. I tested with and without these settings below to try to find out what the cause of the problem is. ![]() Plexmediaplayer is running fine for about 24 hours, but when it isn’t used for more than 24 - 36 hours it is transcoding everything to 720p 2 mbps. I have 2 Intel NUC’s with ubuntu linux 16.04 on it which are running Plex Media Player, I turned off every sleep and hibernate function as I could find. Optimising for Direct Play/Stream To experience your content in the best quality its always recommended to rip content in formats your Plex clients can understand and that satisfy the maximum bitrate you can achieve to our servers. (The last one is the reason I built it myself, because LE9 with KODI in it is lacking the ability to control Plex with the mobile plex app). Transcoding will also reduce the overall picture quality of the content you are watching. ![]() So far everything I want is working as it should, all audio passthrough is working (DTS-HD, TrueHD) and video hardware acceleration is working, remote control using the plex mobile iOS app is working. Build PMP because lack of DTS-HD and TRUEHD passthrough in the embedded image (see and #876 )
